The 7-day journey begins in Delhi and takes you into the land of tea plantations, Darjeeling. From Darjeeling, visitors will move ahead to Gangtok. Domestic Flight from Delhi to Bagdogra
Darjeeling Upon arrival, meet your representative and post-meet and greet, private transport from Bagdogra Airport to your hotel in Darjeeling. Darjeeling, former summer residence of the British Raj in the nineteenth century, has kept its "so British" character with its colonial houses. The city is known around the world for its tea production. A stroll through the bustling bazaar allows you to rub shoulders with the main ethnic groups of the region: Lepchas, Bhotias, Nepalese, Bengalis and Tibetan refugees.
In Darjeeling
Early in the morning, we watch the sunrise from the Tiger Hill on the Himalayan range dominated by the third highest peak in the world, the Kangchenjunga. We returned to the hotel for breakfast. Today we board the mythical Toy Train, one amongst the UNESCO World Heritage and visit the Ghoom Monastery and return to the city. Later, visiting the Bazaar, very lively, allows you to meet the main ethnic groups of this part of the Himalayas: Lepchas, the oldest inhabitants of the region, Bhotias from Tibet, Nepalese, Bengalis, and Tibetan refugees.
In Darjeeling
Today you discover the Tukvar Valley and its tea plantations. Walk in the gardens and visit one of the famous Darjeeling tea factories. Later proceed to the plantations of the Happy Valley Tea Estate.
Darjeeling - Gangtok
Private transport from Darjeeling to Gangtok. Upon arrival, check-in followed by lunch at the hotel. Later proceed to visit an orchid reserve and end the free day in the bazaar of the city.
In Gangtok
After breakfast, travel 55km one way from Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake (Day Trip). Located at an elevation of 3,753 m (12,313 ft), the lake remains frozen during the winter season. The lake surface reflects different colours with change of seasons and is held in great reverence by the local Sikkimese people. According to the myth the spirituals gurus of Sikkim used to study the color of the water of Tsomgo Lake to forecast the future of the state. So, the lake is considered sacred by the local people and plays a significant role in the life of the spiritual believers.
(Note: Foreigners are allowed till Tsomgo Lake & not allowed to visit Nathula pass & Baba Mandir)
In Gangtok
Discovery of Gangtok and its surroundings. You have breakfast at the hotel before visiting the Rumtek Monastery also called the Dharmachakra Centre, It is a focal point for the sectarian tensions within the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism that characterise the Karmapa controversy. Later visited by Do Drul Chorten, this stupa was built by Trulshik Rinpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism in 1945. Around the stupa are 108 Mani Lhakor or prayer wheels. Afternoon, you can visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, recognized for its studies of Buddhist philosophy.
